Our Story
Helping Hands Supported Living was founded with a clear and deeply personal conviction: every adult with developmental disabilities deserves the opportunity to live a life defined by their own choices, in a home that truly feels like their own.
We saw too many individuals left without clear pathways after aging out of the school system, and too many people placed in settings that prioritized compliance over connection. We knew there had to be a better way — one rooted in genuine respect, individualized support, and the unwavering belief that independence looks different for everyone, and every version of it is worth celebrating.
Today, as a proud SDRC vendored provider, we serve individuals across all of San Diego County. We proudly offer services in both English and Spanish, and translation services can be arranged upon request to ensure culturally responsive care for San Diego's diverse communities.

Helping Hands Supported Living LLC (HHSL) is dedicated to empowering adults with developmental disabilities to live self-directed, meaningful lives in homes of their choosing. Our mission is to provide individualized supports that promote independence, dignity, inclusion, and personal choice while safeguarding health and safety.
We believe that every person we support deserves to live in a safe and stable home environment that they control, surrounded by people and opportunities that are meaningful to them. Our services are built on the principles of person-centered planning, dignity of risk, self-determination, and respect for individual choice.
Every person we support:
- Has real authority over their daily lives, routines, and decisions.
- Directs their services and actively participates in planning and evaluating them.
- Receives supports tailored to their preferences, strengths, and cultural background.
- Is encouraged to pursue relationships and community involvement that enhance quality of life.
- Lives in an environment that is safe, stable, and responsive to their changing needs.
This mission reflects our unwavering commitment to the intent and values of the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act and Title 17 regulations. Through collaboration with the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC), consumers, families, and circles of support, HHSL provides high-quality Supported Living Services (SLS) that enable adults with developmental disabilities to thrive as valued and active members of their communities.
